Getting an Instrument

There are at least 4 ways to get an instrument:

1. Rent-to-Own from a local music store,

Such as Summerhays or Bert Murdock (both in Orem). The cost is $15 - $40 per month for 2-3 years, but includes free maintenance, repairs, and music accessories.

2. Buy Online from a trusted instrument store.

Many instruments are available in basic models for under $200. My favorite three online stores are:
A) Woodwind Brasswind: wwbw.com
B) Interstate Music: interstatemusic.com
C) Southwest Strings: southweststrings.com

3. Buy a used instrument

From neighbors, relatives, ksl.com, or craigslist.com. I bought my son an excellent old trumpet from someone for $70! Please e-mail Mr. Winters with questions about brands or to make sure you are getting a good deal.

4. Rent from Orem Junior High.

The $70 rental fee pays for the whole school year, and instruments are rented out on a first-come first-served basis.
